Sony Xperia 1 III - Better than Most

If there was ever a phone that warranted a dedicated unboxing video, it's gotta be this one… sony continues its trend of launching amazing phones that not a lotta people talk about - so let's see wassup with their latest flagship… hey guys ash here from c4etech and let's get started The unboxing part is quite simple here…and that's because the box itself is quite simple… open it up and u are greeted by the Xperia 1 mark 3, let's take it outta that protective cover, remove the sticker off the back and then the protective sticker on the display… we then have a quick start guide followed by a 30w quick charger and a USB type c cable… in some markets, you might get earphones - but not where I got it from - talking about which - I picked this phone up from 28mobile dot com - our sponsors for this video… hard to find phones like this and pretty much whatever else you might want, 28mobile dot com is the place to go… I know you've heard me say this a lot - and I say it cuz well it's true - the shipping is quick and the service is good - so go on check 28mobile.com - I'll leave a link in the description below… Now let's get to the Xperia 1 mark 3 - my first thought on picking this phone up - damn not again… sony if you are watching… Here's the fact, you don't have market share, your phones are not popular… don't get me wrong- they are amazing but not popular… that means finding accessories for it is a PAIN- so please, pretty please - just include a soft case in the box… cuz with this sleek build - the phone is really slippery... Now I’m not complaining about the build, I love the build - just wish there was a case included - the back here is frosted gorilla glass 6, the front is covered by gorilla glass victus… between these 2 pieces of glass is an aluminium frame which again has a matte finish -

the Xperia 1 mark 3 looks and feels premium in hand - but the design is a nothing special - this is not gonna turn heads... It's honour 50 - but If a stealthy look is something that interests you, you are gonna love this… Now The Xperia 1 mark 3 is a long phone…that's been sony’s calling card in recent times… their 21 by 9 aspect ratio… it's a double-edged sword tho - on one hand, the narrowness makes holding the phone easier, but on the other, it does make hitting the top corners more difficult… but if you wanna watch say a movie, the Xperia does offer the best experience possible since you end up not getting black bars… this here’s a 6.5-inch OLED panel with 120hz refresh and 4k resolution - this means the pixel density is about 650 PPI - so it is super sharp - this beautiful display also happens to be uninterrupted since the selfie camera and earpiece are located above it removing the need for a hole punch… This earpiece btw… doubles as a speaker- so stereo front-firing speakers here and they sound better than ever… sony’s even managed to include a headphone jack… - now if you thought that was awesome… let's quickly take a look around this device… we have a flap here that hides a dual sim tray - the2nd slot is hybrid so if u wanna expand storage, u can - this isn’t something you see on flagships anymore and I also think sony’s the only one to provide trays that can just be pulled out and don't need a sim ejector tool… if you know of any other phone that does this - leave a comment - I’m curious... To the bottom we have the primary mic and USB type c port - a lot is going on to the right… we have the volume rockers- the smallest I’ve seen in a while, a power key which still has a fingerprint scanner built it - I don't necessarily hate this but I do prefer in-display scanners - given the asking price I’d love to see sony switch to it… then we have a dedicated google assistant key followed by our lovely 2 stage shutter key… half-press to focus, press all the way down to shoot… I adore this… u can also press this to jump right into the camera app - it's a lot nicer a shortcut than double-pressing the power key which like with all other android phones is also an option here…

Now this power key and even the google assistant key - they are recessed….given one side full off buttons… if these keys were not recessed - putting them on a tripod or a controller like here could have proven to be very difficult- with all the attention sony’s paid to optics, not being able to mount this phone on a tripod would have been a major design flaw… glad to see sony avoid it and pay attention to detail… As it's always been - optics again is a major selling point for this sony flagship too… we get 4 cameras to the back… the primary is a 12mp f1.7 a 1/1.7 inch sensor… initial impressions with these pics… I love it...The colours and detail seem great - and that physical 2 stage shutter - it's satisfying… Next, we have another 12mp sensor - this is a smaller ½.6 inch sensor its got a 124-degree wide f2.2 lens There’s a .3 mp of sensor but the more interesting camera is this one - Sony's got a lens that can switch focal lengths - so70 or 105mm telephones are what you get… at an f2.8 aperture… so about 2.9x and 4.4xzoom respectively… Btw… the primary and telephoto both have optical stabilization… The selfie camera is an 8mp f2… nothing special… One of sony’s biggest strengths here is the software… when u press and hold the shutter key - there’s no regular camera app here… you get straight to sony’s pro app… which gives you a multitude of features... It launches basic by default… which is pretty much like most camera apps with options to switch zoom levels, some modes etc… The rest of it - is similar to what you'd find on sony’s latest alpha line cameras… you get a deeper feature set - and you are allowed to tinker around with a lot more than you’d usually be able to on a smartphone…for example, you get shutter or aperture priority modes, which you rarely if ever see on a phone… The same holds true for video as well…

the dedicated cinema pro app helps add luts or lookup tables to your shots… As unique as sony’s camera apps are… the rest of the interface is pretty stock - this is android 11 - with the snapdragon 888 chip on the inside, everything felt very fast and snappy to me… there’s barely any preloaded apps… one thing I’m gonna have to test is heating - due to the 4k display here…the phone can technically overheat and cause for some limitations as to what you can and can not do… for example, the refresh can automatically switch to 60hz if the phone heats up and the setting gets greyed out… surprisingly there’s no option to adjust the resolution… So what else… we have a 4500mah battery under the hood… it's supposed to go 0-50 in 30 mins with the included charger… There'sfast wireless charging… we get IP68 ingress protection… So that's the Sony Xperia 1 mark 3 - I am seriously excited for this phone, ever since sony’s lost their market share, they've been producing some of the best hardware possible, I’ll have more to say in my full review….For now - this has been a quick first look and hands-on with the Xperia 1 mark 3 - you can pick it up from 28mobile, I’ll leave a link in the description below… and now it is time for me to bid you adieu - thumbs up thumbs down based on what you felt about this video - subscribe and turn on notifications if you haven't yet - thanks for your time, thanks for watching, till next time - my name’s ash, you've been watching c4etech and I'm signing off for now - you guys have a great day - but bye now!
